Kathmandu: H.E. Aleksei Vladimirovich Surotsev, Ambassador of Russia to Nepal, paid a courtesy call to Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav on June 17.
During the meeting, Vice President Yadav expressed satisfaction over the friendly and cordial relations that have existed between Nepal and Russia and mentioned the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between two countries this year. He stated that Nepal wishes to remember this relationship based on mutual respect, understanding, and unbroken bond of friendship.
Vice President Yadav mentioned Russia’s cooperation in the fields of human resource development, tourism, industrial, and transport infrastructure. He said, “Nepal expresses happiness over the increasing cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries in recent times. I believe that our relationship will be further strengthened with new dimensions being added to Nepal-Russia bilateral relations in the coming days.”
The Vice President extended his best wishes for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the friendly Russian people on the occasion of the National Day of the Russian Federation.
Similarly, Ambassador Surovtsev expressed his commitment to continuously provide cooperation from his side to make Nepal-Russia relations stronger and more profound. He mentioned that the Russian government is willing to provide further assistance to Nepal in various sectors including hydropower, agriculture, medicine, and physical infrastructure.
The Ambassador clarified that the Russian side is fully prepared to make the old and historical industrial establishments of Nepal, Birgunj Sugar Factory and Janakpur Cigarette Factory, operational again, provided that the Government of Nepal provides the necessary list with formal requests.
