Kathmandu: The Embassy of Japan and SAARC signed the Addendum of Revised Memorandum on Guidelines for the SAARC-Japan Special Fund for the Purpose of JENESYS 2026 programme on October 7. The Government of Japan has decided to contribute JPY 34,607,000 for JENESYS 2026. The document was signed in Kathmandu by the Secretary-General of SAARC, H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, and the Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, H.E. Maeda Toru. The addendum builds upon the long-standing JENESYS Youth Exchange Programme conducted under the fund donated by the Government of Japan.
Under JENESYS 2026, approximately 40 participants from the SAARC countries are scheduled to visit Japan during FY2026 to learn about Disasters and Climate Change. They are strongly expected that, upon returning home, they will share and apply best practices on climate resilience and disaster preparedness within their own countries.
