Second ‘Nepali Roots Summit 2026’ in Germany

Kathmandu: Nepali Roots e.V. organized the second ‘Nepali Roots Summit 2026’ and has been completed in Munich, Germany. The summit was done with the aim of building a strong network between Nepali entrepreneurs, researchers, students, and community leaders in Germany and Europe by using the knowledge, skills, and experience of the Nepali diaspora through this network for the benefit of Nepali society.

Nepali Roots e.V. states that they are a community organization established with the aim of connecting experts, students, businessmen, etc. from various fields of Nepalese origin in Germany and Europe. They further stated that the organization has been regularly organizing various programs involving the Nepali diaspora and trying to make knowledge exchange, professional cooperation and relations with Nepal more meaningful.

The second Nepali Roots Summit 2026 organized under this initiative brought together 96 Nepali people from different cities of Germany. The program was presided over by Dr. Kritan Gautam, President of Nepali Roots. H.E. Sagar Prasad Phuyal, Ambassador of Nepal to Germany, gave a congratulatory speech and mentioned that Nepali Roots is an important organization as a common platform of the Nepali diaspora. He said that the priority of the government is increasing from traditional diplomacy to economic diplomacy and emphasized that the knowledge, skills and network of the diaspora should be used in areas such as tourism, industry, energy, IT, commerce and innovation. Lokmani Dhakal, President of Non-Resident Nepali Association Germany (NRNA Germany) said that close cooperation between Nepali Roots and NRNA is necessary. He mentioned that he wants to learn from organizations like Nepali Roots to understand the needs of the new generation. He also wished the program success.

The Secretary of Nepali Roots, Jitendra Kasoudhan, welcomed the participants and inaugurated the Nepali Roots Journal. He also said that in view of the fact that the Nepalese diaspora spread around the world is now reaching a leadership role in various fields, building a strong network among them is the need of the hour, and it is expected that Nepali Roots will help to increase cooperation between Nepalis abroad and expand long-term cooperation with Nepal in the fields of knowledge, technology, research, entrepreneurship and investment. He mentioned that he wants to learn from organizations like Nepali Roots to understand the needs of the new generation. He also wished the program success.

Contemporary issues like leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, artificial intelligence, clean energy and diaspora leadership were discussed in the summit. Experts from various fields emphasized the need for a strong professional network, mentorship, and collaboration to transform individual success into collective impact by keeping their experiences and perspectives.

During the discussion, it was expressed that the role of the Nepali diaspora was not limited to remittances and that more effective contributions can be made to Nepal and the world community through knowledge, research, technology, innovation, entrepreneurship and global network. In addition, the need to build a strong community for the future generations by identifying new possibilities of cooperation between Nepal and the Nepali diaspora was also pointed out.

In the program, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the possibilities of new cooperation and exchange experiences with Nepalis from different fields. In order to further connect the diaspora with Nepal. There was a discussion on the need to give special emphasis on policy initiatives such as remote voting, expatriate Nepali citizenship, appropriate deployment of the diaspora fund on behalf of the Nepalese government. It was also discussed that there is a huge potential of industry in Nepal and that the diaspora is ready to work hand in hand with the government for its development and contribute to the economic development of Nepal. The organizers have expressed their commitment to continue such programs in the future to connect Nepalis around the world and expand meaningful cooperation with Nepal.
