Secretary General of SAARC Sarwar Pays Farewell Call on Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Dar

Kathmandu: The Secretary General of SAARC, H.E. Md. Golam Sarwar, paid a farewell courtesy call on the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Ishaq Dar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister commended the Secretary General for his dedicated leadership and contributions toward strengthening the regional framework. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the SAARC Charter, emphasizing that a robust regional partnership is essential for socio-economic development, trade connectivity, and poverty alleviation in South Asia. He further emphasized that Pakistan remains ready to extend continued support for the full revitalization of the SAARC process and the hosting of the 19th SAARC Summit, at the earliest.

The Secretary General expressed his deep gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their unwavering support during his tenure. He acknowledged Pakistan’s proactive and constructive role in advancing SAARC’s core objectives.

Both dignitaries discussed the current landscape of regional cooperation, highlighting the need for collective action to address common challenges, including climate vulnerability, energy security, and cross-border connectivity. They also discussed the security situation in Western Asia.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister extended his best wishes to Secretary General Sarwar for his future endeavors.
