Kathmandu: The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kathmandu held a solemn memorial service on October 11 to honor those affected by the Gen Z movement of September 8–9.
Representing the Korean community in Nepal, the embassy extended heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, paying tribute to the lives lost and those injured during the movement.
The event also marked the launch of a fundraising campaign to support medical treatment for the injured. Korean entrepreneurs and community members participated actively, contributing generously to the cause. Traditional Korean cuisine was served to encourage further donations and community participation.
Ambassador Park Tae-young reaffirmed Korea’s longstanding friendship with Nepal, pledging continued support for disaster relief, humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction efforts. He also commended the Nepali people and government for their commitment to democratic values and peaceful progress.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, Nepal and the Republic of Korea have maintained warm and cooperative ties, marked by growing exchanges and collaboration in multiple sectors.
