Kathmandu: Rt. Hon. Pierre-André Page and Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan jointly inaugurated the Nhu Pukhu Avenue in Lalitpur, marking a new symbol of friendship and cooperation between Switzerland and Nepal.
According to a social media post by the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal, Lalitpur has been home to the Swiss Embassy for the past 70 years. The embassy said that the newly inaugurated avenue represents gratitude, friendship and the close relationship between Switzerland, Lalitpur and the people of Nepal.
“As Switzerland and Nepal celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations, the avenue represents the trust and partnership built over generations and reflects how cooperation has evolved into lasting friendship and shared stewardship,” reads the post.
The avenue will serve as a public space for the people of Lalitpur while standing as a lasting symbol of the enduring ties between Switzerland and Nepal, added the embassy.
