Kathmandu: Rt. Hon. Pierre-André Page, President of the Swiss National Council, inaugurated an exhibition titled Half-way Between Earth and Sky: In the Footsteps of Ella Maillart on Tuesday, November 3, as part of celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Switzerland.
According to a social media post by the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal, the exhibition draws inspiration from the journey of Swiss explorer, adventurer and photographer Ella Maillart and her book ‘In the Land of Sherpas’.
The exhibition retraces Maillart’s route to Gosainkunda and explores the question of what has changed and what has remained the same over the decades.
It also highlights the evolution of relations between Switzerland and Nepal, from the time of Maillart’s journey to the present-day partnership between the two countries, added the embassy.
The exhibition further celebrates the longstanding people-to-people connections, mutual curiosity and respect that continue to strengthen ties between Nepal and Switzerland.
