The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment Welcomes UK Embassy Communications Manager Marasini

Kathmandu: The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment welcomed Prerana Marasini, Strategic Communication Manager from the British Embassy in Nepal, to HQ QOGLR for a key engagement visit focused on reinforcing the longstanding relationship between the Gurkhas serving in the British Army and Nepal.

Major Vivek Jung Shah MVO MBE, Gurkha Major QOGLR, closely supported by WO2 Debendra Limbu, SSM 1 Sqn, and members of QOGLR, hosted the visit and delivered a comprehensive overview of the Regiment’s proud history, current structure, operational responsibilities, and future developments within the British Army.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity for productive discussions on Gurkha recruitment, evolving perspectives within Nepal, and the vital contribution of civilian staff supporting the Regiment. Ms Marasini also gained valuable insight into the daily regimental life of QOGLR soldiers, including their progression and experiences following completion of basic training at ITC Catterick.

As part of the visit, Manager Marasini met with soldiers across the Regiment and observed the strong values, professionalism, and traditions that continue to define the Brigade of Gurkhas. The engagement concluded with a visit to the Gurkha Temple alongside Lama Guruji, followed by lunch at the Officers’ Mess, allowing further discussion in an informal setting.
