U.S. Ambassador Thompson Concludes Three-Day Visit to Gandaki Province

Kathmandu: The U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson, has concluded his three-day visit to Gandaki Province, where he met Health Ministry officials, hospital leaders, frontline healthcare workers, and patients to review progress and discuss priorities in Nepal’s journey toward healthcare self-reliance.

Ambassador Thompson also met Peace Corps Volunteers working in the region. The volunteers are engaged in teaching English in government schools, supporting farmers to increase agricultural production, and promoting nutritious food consumption in local communities.

The U.S.–Nepal partnership continues to advance healthcare, save lives, and support improvements in education, agriculture, and nutrition. Longstanding cooperation between the two countries remains focused on enhancing community resilience, promoting self-reliance, and strengthening health security for both Nepalis and Americans.
