Kathmandu: Regional Security Officer Wil Vaughn represented the U.S. Embassy at the official transfer to Nepal Police of DNA-testing supplies provided as part of a $1 million U.S. contribution to support Nepal’s Rapid DNA systems on September 30.
Manufactured by U.S. company Thermo Fisher Scientific in Middletown, Virginia, these supplies will help Nepal’s forensic teams expand ongoing DNA testing to identify victims and provide answers to families waiting for news of their loved ones, including families of American citizens and all those affected by this tragedy.
The United States is supporting Nepal’s flood response across multiple fronts, including forensic identification, emergency relief, logistics, health, and recovery. To date, the United States has committed more than $36 million in assistance to Nepal’s flood response and recovery efforts.
