Kathmandu: During her visit to Kathmandu, UN Assistant Secretary-General and UN Women Deputy Executive Director, Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, held bilateral meeting with the Acting Mayor of Kathmandu, Sunita Dangol, to discuss a shared vision: making care visible, valued, and accessible for all.
At the heart of the conversation was a powerful idea, Care Delivery Model. More than a concept, they are already taking shape as a practical solution in Kathmandu, bringing childcare and essential services closer to communities while opening up new economic opportunities, especially for women.
Joined by UN Resident Coordinator Lila Pieters Yahia, the discussion spotlighted Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s pioneering Care Delivery model, showing how local leadership can transform everyday realities for families and communities.
Deputy Executive Director Nyaradzayi emphasized how investing in care is not just a social need, but smart public infrastructure that drives gender equality and inclusive development.
