Kathmandu: Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, Deputy Executive Director (ED) of UN Women, met with Ambassador Gyan Bahadur Magar, Deputy Permanent Representative of Nepal to the UN, when she paid a courtesy call at the office in New York.
Deputy ED Gumbonzvanda congratulated Nepal’s leadership as the current President of UN ECOSOC through Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa.
She also shared her experience on her recent mission to Nepal and the deep experience of the effort to bring young people, especially young women, into leadership. She expressed UN Nepal’s commitment to support the development efforts of the country and especially for UN Women Nepal and its focus on advancing the status of women and girls.
She stated that she looks forward to working together, especially around ending violence against women and girls and in the negotiations for the 71st session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
