UN Women Deputy Executive Director Engages with Editors and Journalists from Multiple Media Networks

Kathmandu: Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda, UN Assistant Secretary General and UN Women Deputy Executive Director, engaged with leading editors and journalists from The Himalayan Times, Nepali Times, Kantipur Daily, and Nepal Investigative Multimedia Journalism Network in Kathmandu, highlighting the media’s vital role as an opinion leader in shaping public discourse and advancing gender equality.

The interaction explored the power of media to challenge stereotypes, strengthen accountability, and elevate women’s voices and leadership, while also addressing emerging issues such as online gender-based violence, digital transformation, and inclusive digital spaces.

Building on the momentum of the Media Compact signed earlier this year with leading media houses of Nepal, UN Women reaffirmed its partnership with Nepali media in promoting rights-based narratives that portray women not just as subjects of news, but as leaders, innovators, and agents of change.
