UN Women Nepal Hosts Media Compact Signing Ceremony 2026

Kathmandu: UN Women Nepal, alongside Media Advocacy Group (MAG) and Ministry of Gender Equality of South Korea, hosted the Media Compact Signing Ceremony 2026. This event was done together to take a historic step toward gender-responsive journalism. This approach goes beyond reporting, it ensures fair, respectful, and inclusive representation of women in all spheres, especially in political coverage.

The event was attended by Korean Ambassador Park Taeyoung where he emphasized the important role of the media in shaping narratives and public opinion, and conveyed the need for more gender-responsive and inclusive media coverage going forward.

By signing the Media Compact, participating media houses have made a collective commitment to uphold these principles, recognizing their responsibility to amplify diverse voices and promote balanced narratives.

The organization stated that this is more than a symbolic gesture. It marks a shared pledge to strengthen the integrity of reporting, encourage inclusivity, and contribute to a more equitable and democratic media landscape. Because media that includes everyone isn’t a choice, it’s the foundation of everything that truly matters.
