Kathmandu: UNFPA Nepal and the National Human Rights Commission have renewed and strengthened strategic partnership through a newly signed five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed by Murali Prasad Kharel, Secretary of NHRC, and Sriram Haridass, Country Representative for UNFPA in Nepal.
The partnership builds on an initial agreement from 2023 and focuses on advancing gender equality, protecting sexual and reproductive health and rights, and preventing gender-based violence, child marriage, and harmful practices across the country.
Going forward, the two organizations, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the National Human Rights Commission of Nepal, will continue working together to strengthen human rights monitoring, independent oversight, and accountability for the bodily integrity and dignity of women, girls, older persons, and disadvantaged groups in all provinces of Nepal.
