United States Donates Two Sky Trucks to the Nepali Army

Kathmandu: The Nepali Army has officially received two M28 Sky Truck aircraft from the United States government. The planes were formally handed over in a ceremony attended by U.S. Ambassador Dean R. Thompson, alongside Nepal’s Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba, Defense Minister Manbir Rai, and Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel.

The aircraft, one configured for cargo and transport and the other as a dedicated air ambulance, are expected to enhance the Nepali Army’s capabilities in disaster relief, rescue operations, and humanitarian missions. According to the Nepali Army, the air ambulance is specifically intended for medical evacuations of injured individuals and patients in emergencies.

This delivery is part of a broader U.S. military assistance program to Nepal. The United States has a history of supporting Nepal’s military and security, often through programs that align with mutual interests in peacekeeping and disaster response. The two new aircraft are the latest in a series of aid packages aimed at improving Nepal’s capacity for airlift and relief efforts in its challenging mountainous terrain.
