Kathmandu: The newly arrived Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Megan Bouldin, paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Hon. Shisir Khanal at Singhadurbar on September 11.
During the call on, CDA Bouldin conveyed her deepest sympathies to the flood victims and expressed solidarity of the US government to the government and people of Nepal. She also expressed readiness of the US government to support and assist Nepal in relief, recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The US Embassy stated that the United States is working side by side with Nepal through this response. Their highest priority remains the safety and security of our U.S. citizens, and they have surged consular support to assist families seeking information about their loved ones. At the same time, U.S. assistance is supporting Nepal-led disaster response in affected communities across the country.
The United States has mobilized more than $4 million in humanitarian assistance and support, including food and emergency relief, logistics and equipment, specialized disaster victim recovery supplies, and FBI forensic experts working alongside Nepal Police to help identify victims and provide answers to families.
The Minister conveyed his deep gratitude to the government and people of the United States for the solidarity and support extended to Nepal during this difficult time. Minister Khanal expressed his confidence that the US government’s assistance to Nepal will continue throughout the rehabilitation and reconstruction phases.
