Kathmandu: The Government of the United States has extended warm congratulations to the people of Nepal on the occasion of Constitution Day, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivering the message on behalf of the U.S. Government.
According to the press statement released by the U.S. Department of State, Secretary Rubio mentioned that the United States stands firmly with the aspirations of the Nepali people for a transparent government that upholds the Constitution, describing it as essential for achieving democratic solutions as Nepal heads toward elections in a few months.
Moreover, the U.S. Government further expressed condolences to the families of those killed and injured in recent protests, stressing that the people of Nepal deserve a future marked by economic growth, stronger regional security, and shared prosperity.
Underscoring its development partnership, the statement further highlighted the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact, which aims to expand Nepal’s transportation and energy infrastructure, create jobs, and drive sustainable economic growth. The initiative, Rubio noted, would also deepen U.S.-Nepal ties while generating opportunities for American businesses.
Reaffirming its long-standing partnership, the United States said it looks forward to working closely with Nepal in advancing stability in South Asia and contributing to a safer, more secure world.
