US Embassy Organizes GOAL! USA 2026 Finals in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: The Embassy of the United States organized the GOAL! USA 2026 Finals in Kathmandu amidst the excitement of the FIFA World Cup. Top young football talent from Biratnagar, Surkhet, Bhairahawa, and Pokhara gathered in the capital as part of the Freedom 250 campaign marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, showcasing their skills and passion for the world’s game.

The Embassy stated that over the past several weeks, hundreds of young athletes from across Nepal competed in football skills challenges. The top performers from each city advanced to Kathmandu to compete in the national finals and take part in a special friendly match, where youth participants and celebrity athletes teamed up to face U.S. Embassy staff.

At the kickoff, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy, Scott Urbom, said, “GOAL! USA reflects the enduring friendship between the United States and Nepal. As the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup 2026, we are proud to share that excitement with young people across Nepal and create connections that bring our communities closer together.”
