U.S. Embassy Wins the 1st Diplomatic Futsal Cup

Kathmandu: The U.S. Embassy won the 1st Diplomatic Futsal Cup tournament organized by the Foreign Ministry of Nepal on Sunday. The entertaining final between the U.S. Embassy team and the SAARC team ended 4-4 tie in allocated time and went down to a penalty shootout. In the penalty shootout, the U.S. Embassy won the match by 3-1.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) team has given a strong fight to the U.S. Embassy team. Abdulla Najeeb from the SAARC Futsal Team was selected as the Best Player of the Tournament. The awards were presented by Amrit Bahadur Rai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal.

The 1st Diplomatic Futsal Cup tournament was held on May 29 and June 1. The participation of 13 teams from the Embassies of Australia, Bangladesh, China, India, Japan, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, SAARC, UAE, USA, as well as two teams from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal.

The purpose of the tournament is to foster friendship and mutual understanding between diplomatic missions, international organizations and Nepali diplomats through sports.
