Kathmandu: The US Embassy in Nepal has welcomed the appointment of Sushila Karki as the Prime Minister of the Interim Government, noting it as a step towards stability after last week’s tragic events.
In a statement, the Embassy praised President Ramchandra Paudel and youth leaders for their commitment to a democratic solution, while also mourning Nepal’s recent losses. It also recognized the role of the Nepali Army and Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel in restoring order and ensuring a peaceful transition to civilian government.
The US Embassy said it looks forward to working with the interim government in the months ahead as preparations for new elections move forward.
