WWF Nepal Welcomes Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal and Mr. Bimal Dhakal; Discusses Possible Collaboration and Joint Advocacy on Conservation and Climate Diplomacy

Kathmandu: WWF Nepal Country Representative Dr. Ghana Shyam Gurung warmly welcomed Amb. Dr. Sarmila Parajuli Dhakal, president of the International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD), and Mr. Bimal Dhakal for a high-level meeting focused on advancing environmental priorities.
During the meeting, both sides held constructive discussions on the importance of promoting environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development, particularly in the context of Nepal’s fragile Himalayan ecosystem and its global relevance.
Amb. Dr. Dhakal emphasized the growing role of diplomacy in addressing climate challenges, highlighting Nepal’s potential to emerge as a global voice for mountain ecosystems through strategic engagement and partnerships.
Dr. Gurung shared insights into WWF Nepal’s ongoing work in wildlife conservation, climate resilience, and community-based sustainability, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that support conservation outcomes.
The meeting explored possible areas of collaboration and joint advocacy, including climate diplomacy dialogues, policy engagement, international outreach, and knowledge-sharing initiatives through platforms such as IRGDD, the Ambassador’s Club, and The Diplomat Nepal.
Dr. Gurung also appreciated the contributions of International Relations and Global Diplomacy Dialogue (IRGDD) in promoting dialogue and advancing Nepal’s presence in global diplomatic and policy spaces.
