Book on Nepal’s Biggest Film Star, Rajesh Hamal, Titled ‘Yugdekhi Yugsamma’ Unveiled

The author of the book is writer and journalist Yangesh. The book explores actor Hamal’s family life, film career, and reflections on different dimensions of society. It is based on conversations between actor Hamal and author Yangesh, allowing readers to enjoy the entire life story of Hamal through engaging dialogue.

Kathmandu: The book on Nepal’s biggest film star, Rajesh Hamal, titled ‘Yugdekhi Yugsamma’, was unveiled on October 11 at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi.

The author of the book is writer and journalist Yangesh. The book explores actor Hamal’s family life, film career, and reflections on different dimensions of society. It is based on conversations between actor Hamal and author Yangesh, allowing readers to enjoy the entire life story of Hamal through engaging dialogue. Interestingly, the book has also covered the popular topic of ‘Mahanayak’, and actor Hamal has responded to that topic as well.

The book was jointly unveiled by actor Hamal, author Yangesh, popular writer Buddhisagar, and Hamal’s spouse, Madhu Bhattarai. During the program, actor Hamal said, “Some of my untold stories have been featured in the book. We managed to unveil this book three years after its inception. It covers politics, religion, and some psychological aspects too.” Hamal stated that he has openly shared his thoughts and ideas in the book, adding that it also discusses issues of migration and the relationship between the government and the people.

He added, “Yangesh ji and I discussed this book in different environments. Interestingly, I lived at the same address for 50 years, but during the writing of this book, my address changed three times. Yangesh ji and I sat and discussed a lot at all three places. Even when we were abroad, we discussed it over video calls on WhatsApp.”

Author Yangesh shared that his ideas and concepts evolved during the preparation of the book. He said, “People’s ideas change according to their timeline. Many of my ideas changed during the writing of this book. New concepts were born.”

Writer Buddhisagar said, “There must have been 2,000–3,000 interviews with Rajesh Hamal. Most of the questions are on the periphery. But when you read this book, you realize for the first time how much depth there is in the answers.” Hamal’s spouse, Madhu, also praised the book and congratulated her husband on the new publication.
