Kathmandu: Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Maeda Toru, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs Bala Nanda Sharma on January 13. During the meeting, the two sides held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan.

The meeting focused on Japan’s long-standing economic assistance to Nepal’s development and prosperity, as well as growing people-to-people ties, reflected in the increasing number of Nepali residents in Japan. Both sides acknowledged these exchanges as a strong foundation of the enduring partnership between the two countries.
Minister Sharma and Ambassador Maeda reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the long-standing and cordial Nepal–Japan relations, while underscoring the importance of 2026, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
