Nepal and Egypt established diplomatic relations on July 16, 1957. Nepal opened its residential Embassy in Cairo in 1966, and Egypt established its Embassy in Kathmandu in 1970. Both countries are founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement, with Nepal appreciating Egypt’s pioneering role in promoting its principles.

Over the years, their bilateral relations have been marked by political consultations, mutual support in international forums, and cooperation on various issues. Nepal also endorsed the Camp David Accord between Egypt and Israel in 1978, reflecting its support for peace initiatives in the region. The relationship continues to be strengthened with ongoing diplomatic engagement and cooperation.
