Kathmandu: At the Annual Session of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS Executive Board, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa delivered a statement on behalf of the LDC Group during the Dialogue with the UNDP Administrator, emphasizing the growing challenges facing Least Developed Countries amid escalating conflicts, climate shocks, debt vulnerabilities, and shrinking development finance.
Thapa underscored the indispensable role of UNDP in supporting nationally owned development priorities and called for stronger support to build productive capacities, strengthen institutions, enhance climate resilience, and advance the implementation of the Doha Programme of Action and the 2030 Agenda.
Highlighting that progress in LDCs will be decisive for achieving the SDGs, Ambassador Thapa called for increased core, predictable, and flexible funding for UNDP, as well as reforms that strengthen country-level impact and leave no LDC behind.
