Kathmandu: H.E. Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa received H.E. Tom Fletcher, UN Under Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, at his office on September 17.
Under Secretary General Fletcher conveyed his heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of lives and property caused by the catastrophic flash floods in Nepal and he expressed solidarity with the Government and people of Nepal. He also briefed Ambassador Thapa on the UN’s humanitarian support and ongoing efforts in response to the disaster.
Ambassador Thapa expressed sincere appreciation for the condolences and solidarity. The two sides discussed the UN’s continued cooperation and support to Nepal, including humanitarian response, relief, recovery and reconstruction, disaster preparedness, and strengthening resilience against future disasters.
