Kathmandu: Bipin Duwadi, Chargé d’Affaires (CdA) at the Nepal Embassy in London, attended a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Nepal at the British Parliament on September 8. The meeting was attended by Rt Hon Baroness Winterton, Minister for Indo-Pacific at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Hon Alex Baker MP, Chair of the APPG for Nepal, and other British parliamentarians.
During the meeting, Baroness Winterton briefed the parliamentarians on her recent visit to Nepal and responded to their queries. Hon Alex Baker MP ( Member of Parliament) emphasized the historic relationship between Nepal and the UK and requested the Minister to extend all possible support to address the needs and priorities of the Government of Nepal. Other members of Parliament also expressed their views on British support to Nepal and urged the UK Government to further strengthen its assistance to Nepal.
CdA Duwadi expressed sincere appreciation to the Government and people of the United Kingdom for their continued solidarity and support to Nepal, particularly during these difficult times. He briefed the meeting on the latest developments regarding the
recent crisis and the efforts undertaken by the Government, and called for enhanced UK support for reconstruction, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts.
On the occasion, other important bilateral matters, including the outstanding Gurkha veteran issues, were also discussed.
