CG Khanal Holds Courtesy Meeting with the Governor of Wyoming, Holds Other Engagements

Kathmandu: Lakshuman Khanal, Consul General of Nepal in San Francisco, paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Wyoming, Mark Gordon in Riverton City of Wyoming on April 24. Consul General Khanal briefed the Governor about the establishment and operation of Nepal’s Consulate General in San Francisco in July 2025 with a jurisdiction including over the state of Wyoming. Over the course of the call, the Governor and the Consul General discussed potential areas of cooperation between Nepal and the state of Wyoming. On that occasion, discussions were held on potential cooperation and collaboration in the areas of entrepreneurship development, agriculture, tourism, higher education and research, climate change, environment and high mountain conservation.

Consul General Khanal participated in the Central Wyoming Innovation & Entrepreneurship Conference 2026 held at Central Wyoming College (CWC) in Riverton City of Wyoming on April 23 and April 24. On the sidelines of the conference, he also met with Wyoming State Legislator, Ivan Posey, and had discussion on possible areas of cooperation and collaboration between

Nepal and the state of Wyoming. Similarly, Consul General Khanal had a meeting with Brad Tyndall, President of CWC, at the College on April 22. He then participated in the pre-conference session on ‘Bringing Wyoming to the Global Community: A Conversation with the Consul General of Nepal’ organized at the college and interacted with students, professors, journalists and other participants in the session. During the interaction, Khanal highlighted the priorities of the Government of Nepal for good governance and economic development and the economic opportunities and prospects existing in Nepal.

On completing his engagements in Riverton City, Consul General Khanal travelled to Laramie City and had a meeting with the President of University of Wyoming Ed Seidl on April 24. On that occasion, discussions were held on how to further strengthen the existing relationship between Nepali universities and the University of Wyoming and identify and expand additional areas of cooperation. Following the meeting, separate meetings and interactions were held with Professor Kelly Crane, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources, and John Koprowski, Dean of the College of Environment and Natural Resources, as well as with Danny Dale, Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and Erin Phillips, Acting Senior Director of the School of Energy Resources.

Consul General Khanal, then, gave a presentation titled ‘From the Wonder of Himalaya to the Wonderland of America’ in the university. The presentation highlighted the commonalities between Nepal and the State of Wyoming and potential collaboration in the areas of common interest, including agriculture technology, tourism, student exchange, higher education and research. University professors and staff, as well as Nepali and international students studying and researching at the university attended the presentation.

During his visit to the University of Wyoming, where 70 Nepali students are currently studying, Friends of Nepal at the University of Wyoming (FNUW) organized a welcome and interaction program on April 25. On that occasion, discussions and interactions were held on the services provided by the Consulate General and the role of Nepali diaspora, including students and academic fraternity, in promoting the interests of Nepal and Nepalis.

The above meetings and programs were also attended by CWC Alumnus and current California State University of Fresno Professor Mohan Bahadur Dangi, CWC Alumnus and current Bausch+Lomb Global Quality Director Ramesh Sedhai, journalist Shiva Nepal, and Deputy Consul General Rishiraj Acharya. Professor Dangi made a significant contribution in coordinating the meetings and engagements.
