Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou Hosts Football Match to Mark 70 Years of Nepal-China Diplomatic Ties

Kathmandu: To celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the People’s Republic of China, the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou organized a friendly football match on August 1, 2025, at Yanzigang Stadium in Haizhu District.

The event brought together players and dignitaries from both nations, showcasing strong bilateral ties through a spirited display of sportsmanship. 

The program began with a flag-raising ceremony and national anthems, followed by speeches from. Lin Yanfen, Deputy Director General of the Administration of Sports of Guangzhou Municipality, and Bharat Khanal, Consul General of Nepal in Guangzhou. Chen Qian, Director of the Asia Division of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, also attended the event.

A cake-cutting ceremony marked the 70th anniversary, and a group photo captured the moment of shared celebration. The 60-minute football match between a Nepali representative team and a local Chinese team entertained the audience with high energy and teamwork.

Trophies and medals were awarded to the winners, with special honors given for Best Player and Top Scorer.
