Kathmandu: President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa, expressed admiration for the winners of the prestigious Moonshot Awards, commending their creativity, innovation, and commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In a message shared on social media, the ECOSOC President Thapa congratulated the young innovators, noting that their groundbreaking ideas offer hope and demonstrate the leadership needed to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“As ECOSOC President, I emphasized how young people are driving change, inspiring solutions, and helping build a more inclusive, sustainable and peaceful world,” he said, highlighting the crucial role of youth in tackling global challenges.
The Moonshot Awards recognize exceptional young leaders and visionaries whose initiatives address pressing issues such as climate action, digital inclusion, public health, and social equity. This year’s winners were lauded for their forward-looking solutions and their ability to translate ambition into real-world impact.
The ECOSOC President Thapa also announced that he looks forward to welcoming the awardees at the ECOSOC Youth Forum in April 2026, where they will join global youth leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss innovative pathways for achieving the Global Goals.
