Kathmandu: FAO Nepal, in collaboration with the Food Technology and Quality Control Office (FTQCO), Dhangadhi, convened a key stakeholders’ sensitization programme in Kailali on June 7 on the occassion of World Food Safety Day 2026.
FAO Nepal brought government, academia, private sector and communities together for a stakeholders’ sensitization in Kailali, highlighting the key message: food safety is a shared responsibility.
Discussions highlighted FAO Nepal’s ongoing collaboration with the Government of Nepal, regulatory efforts in the food sector, safe food production practices from the animal health sector, and the health sector’s focus on nutrition, food safety, and public health.
Chief Guest Dr. Hemraj Regmi, Secretary, Ministry of Social Development, Sudurpashchim Province, underscored the need to prevent foodborne diseases, strengthen implementation of food quality standards, and advance One Health collaboration to protect public health and agrifood systems.
