Kathmandu: A week-long culinary celebration highlighting the vibrant and diverse flavours of Sri Lanka is taking place in the capital, offering food enthusiasts a unique cultural and gastronomic experience.

Titled “Flavours of Sri Lanka,” the special Food Week is being hosted from April 12 to 18 at MYNT Restaurant, located within Vivanta Kathmandu. The event aims to introduce guests to the island nation’s rich culinary heritage, known for its bold spices, fresh ingredients, and time-honoured cooking traditions.
Sri Lankan cuisine, shaped by centuries of cultural exchange and indigenous practices, is celebrated for its use of aromatic Ceylon spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and pepper. Combined with staples like coconut, rice, and seafood, these ingredients create a distinctive balance of flavors ranging from mild to intensely spiced.

Visitors can expect to explore signature dishes including rice and curry, kottu roti, and hoppers, alongside traditional sweets like watalappam, kavum, and kokis delicacies often associated with festive occasions in Sri Lankan culture.

Organizers note that the event not only highlights the diversity and authenticity of Sri Lankan cuisine but also emphasizes its cultural significance, rooted in fresh ingredients and traditional preparation techniques.

The Food Week is expected to attract both local diners and international visitors seeking an immersive culinary experience in Kathmandu.
