US Embassy Delegation Meets with Armed Police Force and Seven Summit Treks

Kathmandu: US Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Scott Urbom, Public Affairs Chief Mike Harker, and Regional Security Officer Wil Vaughn joined the Armed Police Force and Seven Summit Treks for the handover of a US-made Freefly Alta X Gen2 commercial cargo drone on September 14. The APF will use the drone to help deliver critical supplies to remote, flood-affected communities where difficult terrain limits access.

Seven Summit Treks previously tested the drone on Ama Dablam as part of the Embassy’s Ascent Summit, where it successfully carried oxygen cylinders and mountaineering equipment between high camps under extreme conditions. That high-altitude test in the Everest region demonstrated a practical application of American technology in Nepal’s most demanding terrain.

The Alta X Gen2 cargo drone handover is one part of broader U.S. support for Nepal’s flood response, alongside humanitarian, logistics, forensic, consular, and other technical assistance for affected communities and families.
