Kathmandu: Japan has welcomed the House of Representatives election in Nepal, which was held on March 5. Japan welcomes the fact that the voting in the Election on March 5 has been carried out in a largely peaceful manner without major incident, reads the press statement of the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.
Japan had dispatched an election observer mission headed by Shiada Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, the mission consisted of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Japan in Nepal, and they conducted monitoring activities on site. As far as the election observer mission was able to inspect, the election process was largely conducted in accordance with procedures in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
They also further state that Japan has been supporting the consolidation of democracy in Nepal for many years. Japan expects the upcoming political process to make progress in a smooth manner and is committed to continuing its support to Nepal’s effort toward further development of democracy in Nepal.
