Nepal–Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Level Meeting Begins in Dhaka

Kathmandu: The eighth Nepal–Bangladesh Commerce Secretary Level Meeting (CSLM) began on January 13 in Dhaka to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Nepali delegation is led by Commerce Secretary H.E. Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire, while the Bangladeshi side is headed by Commerce Secretary H.E. Mr. Mahbubur Rahman.

The two sides are holding talks on enhancing cooperation in trade, transit, connectivity and investment. Key areas of discussion include promoting bilateral trade through the reduction of tariffs, para-tariffs and non-tariff barriers, as well as speeding up negotiations on a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

The meeting will also cover trade and transit facilitation, improvement of road and railway links, expansion of air connectivity, and cooperation for a smooth and sustainable graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category.

The 8th CSLM is being held in Dhaka from 13 to 14 January 2026.
