Nepal Tourism Promotion Seminar 2025 Held in Hong Kong

Kathmandu: The Consulate-General of Nepal hosted the “Nepal Tourism Promotion Seminar 2025,” a tourism promotion program in Hong Kong on July 15.

The promotion seminar was held to engage with local tourism stakeholders and highlight Nepal’s tourism offerings while gaining insight into the priorities of Hong Kong tourists.

Professor Kaye Chon, Dean of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, attended the event as the special guest. Prof. Chon reflected on his frequent visits to Nepal, praising Nepal for its natural beauty and cultural heritage and underscoring the need to strengthen tourism infrastructure and innovation.

A panel discussion themed “Harmonising Nepal Tourism Products to Hong Kong Tourists’ Priorities” was a key feature of the seminar.

Moderated by Satish Gurung, the Acting Consulate-General for Hong Kong, the panel included tourism and hospitality experts Prof. Catherine Cheung, Prof. Ada Lo, and Prof. Roshis Krishna Shrestha. They all explored the evolving preferences of Hong Kong tourists, leveraging AI and digital platforms in tourism entrepreneurship and the need to diversify beyond traditional tourism products.

Addressing the discussion, Dr. Bindeswar Prasad Lekhak, Consul-General of Nepal for Hong Kong, in his remarks, highlighted investment opportunities in Nepal’s tourism sector and emphasized the role of the Nepali diaspora in promoting Nepal’s tourism and investing in the sector.

Migee KC, Country Manager for Nepal Airlines in Hong Kong, and Prakash Pun, Nepal’s tourism promoter for Hong Kong, also delivered brief presentations.

The seminar attracted participation from the local travel, food, and beverage sectors, academia, and community leaders.
