Nepali Army Participates in Multinational Military Exercise ‘Ex Pragati’ in India, Strengthening Defence Cooperation

Kathmandu: A 38-member contingent of the Nepali Army took part in the first edition of the multinational neighbourhood military field training exercise Ex Pragati, conducted by the Indian Army at FTN, Umroi, from May 18 to May 31.

The exercise brought together armed forces from eleven friendly foreign countries, aiming to enhance operational coordination, interoperability, and collective preparedness among participating militaries.

A three-member observer delegation led by Lt Gen Pradeep Jung KC, Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) of the Nepali Army, attended the validation phase and closing ceremony held between 28 and 31 May 2026 in Umroi.

According to officials, the participation of Nepal in the exercise further strengthened defence ties between India and Nepal while also deepening military-to-military engagement with other partner nations. The exercise focused on improving mutual trust, building shared operational understanding, and developing joint capabilities for coordinated response in multinational settings.
