Kathmandu: The Embassy of Nepal organized a Nepali Tea Tasting Programme in Seoul on April 29. The programme brought together over thirty Korean tea importers and six Nepali tea Entrepreneurs.
In her welcome remarks, Shiva Maya Tumbahangphe, Ambassador of Nepal to South Korea, highlighted the importance of the programme as a platform to introduce the richness and diversity of Nepali tea to the Korean market. She noted that the event also encouraged meaningful dialogue between tea entrepreneurs from both countries. Emphasizing that tea represents culture, tradition, and connection, she stated that Nepali tea, grown in the pristine Himalayan foothills, offers unique quality and strong potential in Korea.
Ambassador Tumbahangphe observed the 15th of Baishakh in the Nepali calendar, which usually falls between April 26 and 29. She expressed appreciation to the Korea Tea Sommelier Institute and the National Tea and Coffee Development Board, Nepal for their assistance extended to the Embassy in organizing the event.
In his congratulatory remarks, Nirmal Prasad Bhattarai, Deputy Chief of Mission, thanked all participants and the Korea Tea Sommelier Institute for their contributions. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to promoting Nepali products and strengthening economic ties between Nepal and the Republic of Korea.
The programme provided the participants an opportunity to taste a variety of Nepali teas, exchange ideas, and explore business partnerships. The programme concluded with a networking session.
The event was held in close collaboration with the Korea Tea Sommelier Institute and in coordination with the National Tea and Coffee Development Board, Nepal with an aim to promote Nepali tea in Korea, building connections between tea entrepreneurs of both countries, and strengthening business relations between Nepal and the Republic of Korea.
