‘Nepal and Nepalis are in the heart of New Zealanders,’ – New Zealand DPM Peters

New Zealand DPM Peters meets President Poudel.

Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand Winston Peters met Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Poudel on May 28 at the President’s Office, Sital Niwas. During the meeting, President Poudel welcomed DPM Peters and stated that people-to-people engagement between Nepal and New Zealand have been growing day by day.

According to the Foreign Affairs Adviser of the President, Suresh Chandra Chalise, who was also present at the meeting, said that the President conveyed the harmonious relation the two countries share with each other since their diplomatic relations from 1961.

President Poudel further highlighted the growing Nepali students going abroad to study in New Zealand and the large number of tourists from New Zealand.

Interacting with President Poudel, DPM Peters replied that his country has been encouraging Nepali students through more scholarships in the coming days. He shared, “Nepal and Nepalis are in the heart of New Zealanders.”

Moreover, President Poudel praised DPM Peters and said there will be more high-level visits in the coming years.

DPM Peters visit to Nepal is the first high-level visit from New Zealand to Nepal since their diplomatic relations.
