Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel attended a special reception in Tokyo on February 2, hosted on behalf of the Government of Japan by Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Horii Iwao, to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
Addressing the event, President Paudel expressed happiness over the cordial and friendly relations between the two countries, rooted in mutual respect, trust, understanding, and cooperation.
He highlighted Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, as a strong cultural and spiritual bridge that further strengthens people-to-people ties between Nepal and Japan. The President also expressed gratitude to Japan for its continued support in developing Lumbini as a center of world peace.
The President urged greater Japanese investment in Nepal’s priority sectors, including manufacturing, hydropower, tourism, services, information technology, mining, and agriculture. He also called for expanding cooperation in the tourism sector.
Extending warm greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, President Paudel expressed confidence that this milestone would help elevate Nepal–Japan relations to a new level and pave the way for deeper and more productive cooperation in the years ahead.
