SSIFS Hosts Second Special Course for Young BIMSTEC Diplomats in New Delhi

Kathmandu: The Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS) conducted the 2nd Special Course for Diplomats from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) member states from 17–22 November 2025 in New Delhi.

The programme brought together young diplomats from five BIMSTEC countries for an intensive week of training focused on regional cooperation, diplomacy, and global affairs.

BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey addressed the concluding session, underscoring the organisation’s growing role in fostering regional integration, strengthening partnerships, and advancing collective progress across key areas of cooperation. He highlighted the importance of equipping young diplomats with a clear understanding of BIMSTEC’s vision, goals, and priorities to drive future collaboration. He also expressed gratitude to India, on behalf of the participating member states, for organising the course.

A total of 14 diplomats from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal, and Sri Lanka took part in the week-long programme, which aimed to deepen understanding of regional dynamics and reinforce the foundations for future diplomacy within the BIMSTEC framework.
