UN and Government of Nepal Advance Action Against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

Kathmandu: The United Nations in Nepal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens, convened senior government officials this week to strengthen survivor-centred approaches to Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH).

The workshop focused on translating commitments into concrete action across government institutions by embedding PSEAH principles into systems, procedures and institutional behaviour. Discussions emphasized the need to build mechanisms that listen to survivors, respond effectively and ensure protection, particularly for women and girls.

Key outcomes of the workshop included enhanced collaboration between the Government of Nepal and the UN system, a renewed commitment to survivor-centred approaches, and reinforcement of the principles of dignity, accountability and zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment across all sectors.
