Kathmandu: UN ECOSOC President Lok Bahadur Thapa participated in the side event “From Dushanbe to Abu Dhabi – Harnessing Multilateral Processes to Accelerate Water Action for Sustainable Development,” where President Thapa stressed that water lies at the heart of sustainable development. “It underpins health, food security, energy, resilient ecosystems and economic opportunity,” he said.
President Thapa also said that as we look ahead, we must translate dialogue into implementation.
He said that achieving SDG6 requires stronger institutions, greater investment, science-based decision-making, and inclusive partnerships. “We must sustain the momentum from Dushanbe through the HLPF and into Abu Dhabi to accelerate water action for the 2030 Agenda,” he stated.
