Kathmandu: Lt. General Joel B. Vowell, Deputy Chief of the United States Pacific Command, met with General Ashok Raj Sigdel, Chief of Army Staff of the Nepali Army, on March 16.
During the meeting held at the Nepali Army Headquarters in Kathmandu, the two sides discussed matters of bilateral interest.
The Vowell-led delegation arrived in Nepal on March 15 via India and Bhutan as part of a regular visit under a pre-determined programme.
During the visit, the team is scheduled to tour the Birendra Peacekeeping Operations Training Centre in Panchkhal, Kavrepalanchok District. The delegation is expected to depart for Thailand on March 17.
Officials believe the visit will further strengthen Nepal–US relations and enhance cooperation in humanitarian assistance, disaster management, and international peacekeeping operations.
