Kathmandu: The Women’s Gold Cup International Invitational Knockout Football Tournament is set to take place in Shivasatakshi Municipality from November 1 to November 8.
According to Santosh Thopra, Chairman of the Gold Cup Organizing Committee, the winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 1 million, the highest ever in the history of women’s football tournaments in Nepal. The runner-up will be awarded Rs 500,000, while the best player of the tournament will receive Rs 150,000.
Prizes of Rs 25,000 each will be given to the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward, emerging player, coach, and top scorer. Additionally, the player of the match in each game will earn Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
Eight women’s football teams from Nepal, India, and Bhutan are expected to participate. Nepal’s departmental teams; Tribhuvan Army, APF, and Nepal Police Club, have confirmed their participation, alongside three A Division clubs from Nepal, one team from India, and one from Bhutan.
Organizers said the tournament aims to encourage women players, support their development, and create opportunities for continuous training.
