Nepal and Costa Rica established diplomatic relations on August 16, 1977. Costa Rica is the 75th country to establish bilateral ties with Nepal. The Embassy of Nepal, Washington D.C, USA, is concurrently accredited to Costa Rica, maintaining an Honorary Consul.
As of 2025, Costa Rica does not have any diplomatic missions in Kathmandu, Nepal. However, as part of the North American nations and the South Asian nations, both nations share a common ground at the United Nations, subsequently interacting through the UN frameworks. Both countries continue to explore opportunities for enhanced collaborations.
