Kathmandu: The 16th International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly convened on January 11 in Abu Dhabi under the theme “Powering Humanity: Renewable Energy for Shared Prosperity.”
The Assembly will discuss regional energy transitions and key enablers such as power grids, energy planning, digital innovation, and artificial intelligence (AI). It will also focus on mobilising finance, including sustainable aviation fuels, and the role of renewable energy in strengthening agri-food systems and promoting green industrialisation. The Assembly will conclude on January 12.

A Nepali delegation led by Ambassador of Nepal to the United Arab Emirates and Permanent Representative to IRENA, Tej Bahadur Chhetri, is participating in the Assembly. The delegation also includes Executive Director of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) Nepal, Nawa Raj Dhakal, Deputy Chief of Mission Ranjita Dahal, and First Secretary Bhupendra Ghimire.
The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi is coordinating Nepal’s participation in the Assembly.
