Ambassador Dr. Oli Discusses Agricultural Cooperation with Chinese Official

KATHMANDU: On June 12, 2025, Dr. Krishna Prasad Oli, Ambassador of Nepal to China, met with Peng Tingjun, Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting focused on enhancing Nepal-China agricultural cooperation. Key issues discussed included the reactivation of the Joint Committee on Agriculture, facilitation of Nepali exports such as citrus fruits, dairy products, potatoes, and buffalo meat, and the establishment of multifunctional laboratories in Kathmandu and border areas.

Discussions also covered genetic improvement of crops like sugarcane and bamboo, plant and animal quarantine procedures, food inspection at border points, food safety and quality control, export crop processing, fertilizer supply, and capacity building through training programs.
