Ambassador Thapa Reaffirms Nepal’s Unwavering Commitment to WPS Agenda

Kathmandu: At the UN Security Council Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security, Ambassador Lok Bahadur Thapa reaffirmed Nepal’s unwavering commitment to the WPS agenda, rooted in constitutional guarantees for gender equality and the National Action Plan implementing UNSC Resolutions 1325 and 1820.

Ambassador Thapa highlighted five priorities for advancing the WPS agenda: Women’s meaningful participation in decision-making, protection from violence, prevention through equality and inclusion, empowerment through leadership and opportunities and accountability for effective implementation. Peace is stronger, more inclusive, and more sustainable when women lead. Investing in women is investing in lasting peace, he said.
